Make This Leather Catch-All Tray to Contain the Clutter

DIY Leather Tray

Make sure the functional and decorative valet tray to contain keys, pocket money and all those odds and ends that wrangling in the office or in the hallway.

If you're like me, it may take a few extra seconds to search for the keys, sunglasses and phone around the House before heading out the door. Before you build the entryway console table in the last week, we do not have a separate area for catching a bit of miscellaneous and soon we realized we needed some sort of monitor where they land.

We do everything from the beginning of the live entry in the console, and today we're excited to share how you can create your own using the simple and elegant rooms, a little more than a piece of scrap leather and a handful of rivets.

Leather tray supplies

Scrap the rich, Brown cowhide leather, also the local craft supply store to pick it up. It was about 2 millimeters thick and firm the flexibility — complete with a sturdy tray. Most of the leather craft supply stores is a great way for you to work, scrap pieces of if you ask. If you do not have local access to a scrap of leather, you can order it online or choose from faux leather or felt.

First, decide how big the tray you want, and then measure the leather end-of-life size, by adding extra inches on all four sides before cutting. For this project we used a size 0-5/64-inch leather drive punch and standard-size to a small, double-cap staples.

Insert the staple-arm punched holes through both layers, then turn to see the exposed stem, top of the rivet CAP and then give the CAP a couple of firm taps with a hammer over a hard surface to seal and protect. This is the second step, you should practice the scraps if you have not worked with Staples before.

Repeat setting rivets into each of the 4 corners-you get a small addicting/systematic, once you get the hang of it.

When all four sides are Staples, you can call your tray ready. Now is the time to find the ideal place to corral that pocket clutter.

We took our home to act as organizer of the keys, pocket money and nothing else, our quick landing place, which may otherwise have ended up scattered around the new console table, entryway.
