There's just something about a springtime Sunday morning that begs for a brunch-inspired meal. Maybe it's the fresh breeze, the reemergence of flowers in the garden or that the small hint of summer in the air, but the easy, laid back gatherings are nearly a requirement come the weekend. My favorite foundation for a successful brunch? Mimosas, of course!
This season, I challenged myself to find the magic formula for hosting a brunch at home quick and easy, and the results surprised even us. Thanks to a well planned grocery store list and a collection of party accessories at the ready in our pantry, it was a cinch to pull off and left me plenty of time to indulge in a citrusy, champagne-filled glass or two.
To recreate the look in your own home, you'll first need a bar cart. Ours came from a local consignment sale soars in the shop, but places like Target and World Market are coming out with a ready made options that pack tons of style.
After setting up our bar cart in the dining room, the scene felt just a little bit flat. So, to give the space some dimension, I grabbed my large hole punch (the one used in this post for how to create a pretty tablescape) and cut the multiple circles from the three coordinating sheets of scrapbook paper. Rolled pieces of tape stuck behind each circle allowed me to adhere to them temporarily to the wall behind the cart for instant pizzazz (and free!).
Finally, you'll also need a large beverage urn, a cake stand and some tiny bowls and spoons appetizer. These pieces will allow you to serve your mimosa basics — the orange juice, some bite-size breakfast pastries and fruit to garnish the mimosas. A collection of champagne glasses, vase of flowers and a bottle of your favorite bubbly to complete the look.
Whether you're toasting to graduation, an upcoming vacation or simply for having survived the workweek, a do-it-yourself-at-home mimosa bar will surely make the most of your celebration — big or small!
