To tell the truth. In the summer, the attendants go through quite a bit to ensure that every hot soirée goes off without a hitch, and all at the same time, sit and enjoy the Mai Tai or two. Shame on us! It is time to show love to our party-pro friends craftable Manager of gifts, which beats the socks off.
One trick that I would like to come back to time and again: ombré-effect. This simple painted technique (that one colorway goes to the lightest in the darkest, if you are importing only this technology) can be used to add so much goodies gifts. This time, I have focused my energy DIY ombré wooden serving spoons.
For this project you will need a wooden spoons or forks, plastic artist palette and a thin paintbrush, Take two different colors of bright acrylic paint (your choice!), white paint, 1/4 inch masking tape and sandpaper block.
Initially, the sandpaper to use even for the rough surface at the ends of the servers. At this stage, to get rid of a protective topcoat often found in store-bought wooden spoons, allowing the paint to grab onto the raw wood. Don't forget to press the spoon at the top and sides of sandpaper, too!
After the disconnected small lengths of masking tape and wrap around each spoon handle. Check that the tape overlaps neatly at each end. Press firmly all the way around the tips of my fingers into the pockets of air are not left behind, which would end up uneven paint lines. I've decided to make my color block to go to the minimum and maximum width, but you can always use the ruler to achieve more accurate, steady bands, if you want to.
Mix colors in a quarter-sized drops ombré, squeeze the paint onto one of the plastic artist palette. Then add a drop (just a drop!) in the white direction palette. Use a brush, dip in the original color for scooping a little white paint, which squeezes out. Separating each section. Then repeat the process in the third when a slightly higher number of white paint.
Tip: want to rinse the brush, always make sure that the colors did not get messed up. If the paint is a little too thick mix easily, add a drop or two of water until the texture is more like the ketchup (in contrast to Maple syrup, for example).
Paintbrush in hand, dip it into the first color-dark — and paint at the end of a serving spoon. Always finish off the tape, so you do not accidentally pushes the paint and under the masked area. Wash your brush after evenly coated with the first part, and repeat in the next section, the Middle tone. Then repeat the process for the third time in the lightest color.
Let the paint dry so that the light you see in the wet, clinging to the reflection. Then go ahead and make another layer. If you feel that there is a third coat, by all means do so! It cant hurt.
When your servers painted enough so that you do not see the tree, gently peel back the Tape immediately. If you let the paint dry completely with tape still attached, you run the risk of peeling the paint off the tape.
After the tape has been rejected, the place spoons in a dry place, and let the paint dry a whole hour or two. Then it's time to slip on a basket of fresh pasta or vegetables and your favorite bottle of wine. As they say, there is nothing better than a guest-friendly and happy!
