6 things you need to know about window treatments

Interior of a living roomWindow treatments are an opportunity to define the layout of the space. The total length of the fabric, style and type in the title of each window treatment is appropriate for use, and can help support the style you want to achieve status.

Curtains or draperies?

The terms curtains and curtains are often used interchangeably, but there is, in fact, a clear distinction between the two, that it is important to understand to make sure you have selected the table lamps are best suited for your application.

The curtains are usually heavier fabrics like curtains, and are lined to prevent the light during the day and to seal warmth in the colder months. The curtains are often tailored to the different header styles and usually run from floor to ceiling. The curtains are, by nature, more formal than the curtain counterparts and are generally more expensive because of the lining and extra fabric needed pleated heading.

Curtains, on the other hand, tend to be less formal, made of lighter fabrics, such as cotton, and is usually less than the curtains because they are not lined and require less fabric.

Heading Styles

It is important to think about when choosing a style of window treatment of the title you are using because some tend to read more formal than others. Although there are numerous fabric heading styles, here are a few of the most common you might run into:

In a pinch, the French, the Euro and the Goblet pleats tend to feel more formal than casual styles in the figure to the right. Pleated styles are visibly better and require more fabric than the rear pleats, ripplefold and pass-through styles.

Desired length

If you want to get more of a relaxed, casual look, hang the fabric Panel hanging hardware, so that about 1/2 floor. A more formal look for the "puddle" or pool cloth on the floor anywhere from 1-10 + length necessary to get the panels to just barely over to graze the floor. Puddling is well suited to the lush, formal settings, but is not used on Windows that open and close on a regular basis as the bottoms dirty quickly.

While hanging curtains may seem pretty simple, there are a few simple rules to follow which makes room for taller and grander than it may actually be, regardless of whether you have a window treatments only for grazed the floor or if the puddling.

Through the fabric panels window you give more light floods the space, so it looks brighter and more spacious.
